Some prescription medications have been found to have potentially serious side effects that may be worse than the conditions they are intended to cure.
Bextra and Vioxx, two commonly prescribed medications, recently were taken off the market by the Food and Drug Administration for fear they may cause heart attack and stroke. And Viagra, the drug used by millions of men to treat erectile dysfunction, has been reported to have a possible link to blindness.
For reasons such as these, there is a growing reluctance among some consumers to take prescription medications as well as a lack of satisfaction with their results. In turn, companies such as Ancient Remedies Inc. are developing new products to feed the demand for natural alternatives.
