Itunes and Ipods, one is a virtual jukebox, the other a music player used by millions of people worldwide.
I tunes was created by Apple in 2001. It’s like a link between your Ipod and your computer. You can download the Windows and Mac compatible software for free and go to the music store to purchase music or movies for you Ipod.
After you purchase the music from Itunes you may organize it into playlists, burn your own CDs , download the music to your Ipod or any mp3 player. You can also just listen to the music on your computer.
The best feature of an Ipod is the play list. It allows you to organize your music by genre, artist, popularity or personal favorites. The order of the playlist can be altered or listened to in the order that the music was downloaded. Other options include setting it to a mix which goes through an entire play list or just a portion, and party shuffle, which allows you to hear popular songs more frequently. There is a delete button and if you wish you may get automatic updates of new songs as well.
In 2005, Apple added podcasting which makes it possible for a person to download videos and watch anything from college lectures to family movies on the Ipod. Later in the same year, Itunes was updated so that customers could purchase and download movies to their Ipods. Now you are able to view movies, movies trailers and even your favorite TV shows, anytime and anywhere.
Since 2003 millions of songs and movies have been downloaded from Itunes. Many people go to the site to browse through and rate songs or listen to previews of new music.
Once you have songs from Itunes on your computer, downloading to your Ipod is simple enough. There is more than one way to do this. If you are downloading a few songs you should use the drag method. Simply go to the portable window, click on “attached portable devices” and just drag the music from the play list to the I pod.
For a larger group of songs its better to use the sync feature. In the portable window, go to “attached portable devices” again and click on “Ipod” then open the “options” menu. Click on “Sync” tab and then “Complete library sync” option. This downloads all the music from your computer. To download particular playlist, click the “Select play list Sync” tab and choose what list you want.
With the Sync feature it is even easier to download chunks of music automatically. If you go to the “Sync” tab and set it to “Automatically sync on device connection” your I pod would be updated as soon as it is connected to your computer.
Itunes and I pod combined give us much more freedom and choice than ever before in how we listen to music or watch movies.
