Thousands of lives are being spared thanks to a revolutionary therapy that has proven to be effective in the fight against cancer.
According to doctors at the Proton Therapy Center at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Southern California, proton beam therapy offers cancer patients a considerable advantage over radical surgery or other forms of radiation treatment. They believe this therapy is the most precise and most advanced form of radiation treatment available.
Proton beam therapy targets tumors with more precision, avoiding the surrounding tissue and organs. Conventional radiation, on the other hand, can sometimes damage healthy organs near the tumor.
Doctors find that one major advantage to using proton beam therapy is the beam can be made to exactly match a tumor's irregular shape. Because of this, doctors can target inoperable tumors.
