Off for the summer, and looking to earn some money? You could flip hamburgers at your local Mickey D's, or you could do your own thing, and make some decent money providing a service that everyone needs and few like to do. What am I speaking of? We're talking about starting your own grass cutting business! Don't laugh, I've done this for the past few summers and have made great money doing it. People will pay you some really good money to do something that they either don't have the time or desire to do.
You can get started with a minimal investment that you'll earn back several times over through the course of the summer. With just a few basic pieces of equipment you can be on your way to earning money practically the same day. One suggestion; try to get the best heavy duty lawnmower that you can afford. Oftentimes you can get a good used one by checking with local lawn repairs shops.
Look for an area where the people are largely professionals and have nice big yards that they don't have time to take care of. That's where you come in and through advertisements in papers that serve that community, let them know that you'll take care of thier lawns in a 'professional' manner.
One little advertising thing that I did was have a friend draw up a simple flyer of an old balding obese man sweating profusely while pushing a mower and distributed it to some houses in that area, and it got me enough work to keep me busy through the summer.
If you don't mind geting dirty, you can make some excellent income cutting grass. Just one last thing, watch the flowers!
