To flush or to dual-flush, that is the question. And the answer is: Now it's your choice to determine what water level to use when flushing your toilet.
Kohler, the largest toilet maker in the United States, has found a way to help reduce water usage and save home and business owners money at the same time. By introducing the Sterling Rockton toilet with Dual Force flushing technology, you can decide on the amount of water you need to flush.
Dual Force allows the user the option of selecting one of two water levels each time the toilet is flushed. Operated by two flush buttons, the "long flush" uses 1.6 gallons of water and is used to remove bulk waste while the "short flush" uses half that amount, 0.8 gallons, to remove light or liquid waste.
So how does this benefit you? With the industry standard being 1.6 gallons of water per flush, studies have revealed that by replacing old toilets with dual-flush models you save an average family of four up to 6,000 gallons of water each year.
"Decreasing water demand and consumption not only benefits home and business owners in terms of lower water and sewer bills, but on a greater scale, benefits the municipalities they reside and work in as well," said John Brown, associate product manager for Sterling sanitary products. "Less water consumption can delay or avoid the need for a municipality to expand or build new water treatment and wastewater facilities."
The trapway design and flapperless valve of the Rockton toilet maximize the force of gravity, requiring only one flush for bulk removal. Together they provide long-lasting operation and reliability. Additionally, the toilet's siphonic washdown system directs 100 percent of the water through the rim to keep the bowl clean.
