We've all heard of meditation, and know that it can help still the mind, create focus.. but where to begin...
Here we give you a quick overview and simple starting guide.
A healthly mind leads to a healthy body, rest and relaxation are essential to gain a healthy mind, and to that end meditation is an essential skill and technique. More and more people find meditation each day from Holywood superstars to business people, doctors to mothers. There is a technique and style to suit all people, which can be as quick as a few breaths, to as long as days of deep meditative retreats.
What is meditation?
It's a state of focusesed awareness, that guides the mind from inside the body. There are several different types of meditation from the moving meditation of tai chi, to the still zen meditation, and including waterfall meditations, and much more.
Some meditations include chanting, singing, or dancing even. What is clear is that the intention of the practice is to bring about a heigthen higher state.
So what can I do to meditate?
- Try and find a quite place
- Turn off the cell phone, radio, tv
- Sit comfortably, with the back/spine straight.
- Breathe freely and don't force the breath
- Close the eyes, and allow yourself to observe you own body
- Notice as you breathe in
- Notice as you breathe out
