Quarterback Jeff George has been out the game for 5 seasons but it seems that his luck has changed since the moment the Oakland Raiders signed him again for a new contract. George was the No.1 overall pick in 1990 by Indianapolis and played for the Raiders in 1997-98 seasons in which he started 23 games, threw 33 touchdowns and made 14 interceptions.
In 1997 George was replaced by Rich Gannon after suffering several injuries with the Oakland team. During his first season with them, he threw for 3,917 yards and 29 touchdowns.
The football player was added to the Raiders in August 28 starting with a practice. The team already has the roosters: Aaron Brooks, Andrew Walter and Marques Tuiasosopo, fact that makes totally unknown the position that the player will take with them.
Getting back into George’s career is good to remember that he used to play with the Colts from1990-93 and with Atlanta from 1994-96. The player was with Oakland for two seasons and another one with Minnesota, joining the Redskins in 2000 as backup.
Chosen as an insurance midway by Seattle in 2002 where he didn’t play, he was signed with Chicago also in 2004 staying out of the field. He has a 46-78 career record as a starter.
The player was cut in 2001 after playing only two games with the Redskins in which he had a rating of 34.6 as quarterback, completing 23 of 42 passes with 3 interceptions. George and coach Marty Schottenheimer had a sideline argument and he was removed from his last game with Washington. He had the same problem in 1996 when he was playing with Atlanta getting suspended.
