The Tibidabo amusement park is one of the oldest in Europe and dates back to the first decade of the 20th century. In addition to the six old attractions which have been restored and are in working condition, the park also has an important number of modern attractions, as well as the unique Museu d'Autňmates. Located at the top of the mountain after which the park is named, the Tibidabo has one of the most spectacular views of Barcelona.

It is the city’s oldest and only remaining amusement park. Built in 1899, it offers more than thirty different and exciting rides. The most popular is La Atalaya (the watchtower), with its fantastic views. A few of the unusual 19th-century attractions still exist, like the Museo de Autómatas (Mechanical Museum). Next to it stands the modernist-style Church of the Sacred Heart.

It is the oldest amusement park of Barcelona and occupies a surface area of 70,000 ms with around 30 rides. The Automaton Museum, the pioneer of the Park, remains from the former installation. There is a collection of 35 wonderful mechanical puppets. There is also the renewed Aeromŕgic, designed in 1935, and the aero plane, which dates from 1928.

Alongside these older attractions, the Park also has the most modern rides, such as the Tibidabo Express and the Viking. Next to the park is the Sagrat Cor (Sacred Heart) church, a modernist temple of neogothic inspiration begun in 1902 by Enric Sagnier and which took 60 years to complete. Josep Miret Llopart was responsible for the monumental sculpture of the Sacred Heart on top of the church.

The legendary conventional Spanish amusement park on the Tibidado Mountain overlooking Barcelona has been amusing and entertaining people for over a hundred years. It has the highest point of the city and meet the expanse of spectacular views across Barcelona and out to sea. The large site offers numerous other often traditional and unusual rides for both adults and children, including a mono-railway, water ride, simulated airplane flight and a giant Ferris wheel.

This amusement park combines tradition with modernity the rides from the beginning of the century compete with cutting-edge novelties such as the hair-raising Dragon Khan. In summer, the place takes on a fair like atmosphere. The peak of the mountain has been a popular retreat for Barcelonese since 1868 when a road was built connecting it to the city. Dr. Andreu a wealthy pill manufacturer, believing the fresh mountain air to be good for the health, created the Sociedad Anónima de Tibidabo, which promoted the slopes as a public garden and was instrumental in installing both the blue tram and funicular through which one reaches there. Some of the attractions in the park date back to his time. L'Avio is a quaint replica of the first plane that served the Barcelona-Madrid route. In the Tibidabo version one are treated to a whisk over the summit in a toy-like version suspended from a central axis. There is also a charming museum of period automatons. There are plenty of other rides and attractions designed to scare one out of his/her wits, but many are enhanced by the elevated position of the park itself.
