Gizmo are attacking the core of Skype’s market with a free phone calls offer that extends past simple free PC - PC calling and allows calls to the home and mobile numbers of registered Gizmo users free of charge across 60 countries.
Not quite hitting the free calls of Jajah but offering more than Skype currently do this is likely to garner a large number of signups, especially amongst technology enthusiasts who will be able to integrate Gizmo accounts with other packages and Software PBXs thanks to it’s open SIP based system.
In an attempt to keep these customers active Gizmo are requiring active use of the service and reserve the right to limit the length of calls - which may become annoying should the offer be taken up by more users than they expected.
Calls are limited to landlines in the majority of countries but in areas where called-party-pays mobile networks operate these can also be called for free from the Gizmo client.
