Shoppers can avoid countless shipping fees if they simply use in-store pickup with purchases. It may not seem like much at first, but those additional shipping fees really hurt when they become a habit. Many retailers offer in-store pickup with online orders to give the consumers better shopping options. In-store pick up could save you thousands of dollars over a lifetime. Here's an example (does not include consumer staples):
Joe makes 20% of his purchases online and pays for shipping on each item.
He buys 10 items total each month, spending on average $5 per item shipped to his home.
His total shipping costs per month = 2 X $5 = $10 per month
John makes 100% of his purchases online, but picks up each purchase from its respective store.
He buys 10 items total each month, spending on average $0 per item shipped to his home.
His total shipping costs per month = $0!!!
Online ordering and In-store pickup also offers other benefits to consumers:
* you can reserve your item and avoid the possibility of your item being sold out.
* your item stays reserved for up to a week so you can stop by the store at your convenience.
* If you ever need to cancel the order for non-product quality reasons, simply cancel the online order and avoid annoying returns.
Bottom Line: Consumers can save big dollars on in-store pickups while shopping from the convenience of your home. Order online, pick up your merchandise at your convenience, and save big.
